Falkirk East, on the upper reaches of the Firth of Forth in central Scotland, contains none of the burgh of Falkirk itself, but has two main centres of population, in Stenhousemuir, to the north of Falkirk, and the oil refinery town of Grangemouth to the east. In common with much of Central Scotland, Labour control this traditionally industrial seat, but with an advancing SNP vote. It would probably take about a 10 per cent swing for the Nationalists to take the seat from Labour, which seems a remote possibility, but the Scots could punish Labour here if they were unhappy with the them in government.
