Glasgow Springburn, in the north of the city, is dominated by the peripheral tower blocks and council estates that surround much of Scotland's premier industrial city. There are more mixed areas closer to the city centre, but it is the proletarian voters of the public housing projects who totally dominate and who can be expected to return a Labour MP with a very large majority in 1997.
