The London Borough of Hackney is one of the most deprived in the capital, and although the northern of Hackney's two constituencies, it is slightly less homogeneously 'inner-city' in its characteristics, although the majority of voters here still turn out for Labour. Over a third of the electorate is non-white, and the seat also includes London's most conspicuous Orthodox Jewish community, in Stamford Hill, where the Conservatives collect many of their votes in local elections.
