Hampshire North West is a new constituency, the main town of which is Andover. Although Andover was designated as an overspill town for London and saw much council house development in the 1960s, the area is comfortable and affluent. Many council tenants have bought their homes, and there is little residual support for Labour. This is safe Tory territory.
