Aberdeen North is a new constituency is made up from part of the former seat of the same name but also taking in some 20,000 voters from the Gordon constituency, held by the Liberal Democrats in 1992. These voters come from areas of recent private housing estates, stimulated by the 1970s local North Sea oil boom, which were particularly strong for the Liberal Democrats. However, the former Aberdeen North seat was held by Labour against a challenge from the Scottish Nationalists. All in all something of an electoral melting pot. Probably a Labour seat with Liberal Democrats in second place, but it should be noted that the SNP vote can also move unpredictably in parts of Scotland and a three-way split is not impossible.
