The Lancashire towns of Heywood and Middleton are joined in this new seat by parts of the Liberal Democrat constituency of Rochdale. The new seat is very mixed in its overall character with very affluent neighbourhoods and pockets of quite serious deprivation, but on balance the Labour Party have the clear upper edge, and can expect to win this seat quite comfortably.
