Islington North's MP, Jeremy Corbyn, occupies one of Labour's safe inner London seats. In the 1980s many local councillors and the then local MP all defected from Labour to the short-lived Social Democrat Party. Unfortunately for these renegades, the electorate remained loyal to Labour at subsequent elections. With high levels of local authority housing and significant communities of both Irish and non-white electors, Labour can fully expect to hold this seat.
