The new and rather clumsily named seat of Bedfordshire Mid is carved out of the eponymous county in a way that excludes major towns. From Kempston on the fringes of Bedford, to Toddington, north of Luton on the M1, the main central communities are the market town of Ampthill and the rapidly expanding commuter town of Flitwick. The lack of a clear community focus rather denies this new constituency a certain cultural identity, but, wherever you look within its boundaries, the voting patterns are pretty much the same, with the Conservatives in the lead. The opposition parties may vie for second place, but the seat should be safely Tory.
