Chelmsford only contributes a few south-eastern suburbs to the constituency of Maldon and Chelmsford East, which is better typified by the small towns of Malden and Burnham-on Crouch and the flat rural landscape that peters out to marshland on the Essex coast. The seat also just includes Ingatestone, on the A12. These communities are all essentially Conservative, and although the Liberal Democrats may come a fairly distant second, this ought to be a safe Tory seat.
