Manchester Central is that city's poorest constituency. High unemployment, very low levels of owner-occupation and many single parent families all point to the unsurprising fact that Conservative voters are scarce. Low turn-outs may be a problem, but the electors who do vote are very loyal to Labour, for which party this is a very safe seat.
