Industrial central Scotland contains many seats like Motherwell and Wishaw. We find a preponderance of local authority housing and an economy based on a declining heavy industrial heritage, which in this case involves the steel industry. This is natural Labour territory, and although the Nationalists come second, they do not pose a threat to Labour's grip on the seat.
