One of the traditional homes of 'old' rather than 'new' Essex man , the boundaries of Billericay have changed somewhat since the last election, but the net effect has been to strengthen the Conservatives' likely hold on power here. Based around Billericay itself and Wickford, the social profile is pretty affluent, and neither Labour nor the Liberal Democrats, who vie for second place, pose a sufficiently strong threat to the Conservatives for the colourful sitting MP, Teresa Gorman, to have too many worries about returning to parliament.
