Suburban Surrey Heath is heavily owner-occupied, white, middle-class, and above all affluent. Scant surprise then that the seat on which it is based, former constituency North West Surrey, delivered one of the half dozen largest Conservative majorities in the country, 28,394 over the Lib Dems. The lead will be smaller this time, but only because the Boundary Commissioners have equalised the electorates of all the seats in Surrey, which retains the same number of constituencies. But Sir Michael Grylls will have no reason to complain as he holds his new slimmed-down seat.
