East Grinstead, Haywards Heath, and Burgess Hill are the main towns in the almost exclusively middle-class seat of Sussex Mid. There is very little local authority housing, and very little traditional support for Labour. The Liberal Democrats put up a fair showing for a respectable second place, but overall this seat will provide a safe haven for Conservative MP, Nicholas Soames, who is decamping here from more marginal Crawley.
