Half the electors in this Buckinghamshire seat live in its main town, High Wycombe, which contains light industry, many working-class voters and a sizeable (10 per cent) non-white community. Yet it is predominantly Conservative, like so many medium-sized communities in South East England. The other half is mostly rural and even more Tory, and includes affluent Marlow. Tory Ray Whitney faces no real challenge, and the only question is who comes second - probably Labour, since the LibDems seem to be in local decline.
