Bridgend, between Cardiff and Swansea, on the coastal plain of South Wales, does not have the solid heavy industrial and mining tradition of much of South Wales. There are industrial areas, but also prosperous rural stretches and coastal resort communities. The overall profile of this seat, if found in England, would indicate a likely Conservative seat. However, this is Wales, where more traditional Labour loyalties have proved quite resilient, and Labour should continue to hold without too much difficulty.
