Brighton Kemptown, long regarded as one of Labour's best hopes in Sussex, has probably been moved beyond the party's reach by the most recent boundary changes, which have added more affluent areas to the north and east, while removing some of the more liberal inner-city wards to adjacent Brighton Pavilion. The constituency still contains most of Brighton's quite extensive council estates, but the overall picture now looks pretty safe for the Conservatives.
