Coatbridge and Chryston contains the two traditional industrial towns of Coatbridge and Airdrie, with the former contributing the larger number of electors. Chrsyton is a smaller community in the north of the constituency. The Labour Party is very dominant in politics in this part of Central Scotland, which contains so many similar seats, and this is another that is safe for Labour.
