Copeland extends from the industrial coast of Cumbria, around Whitehaven, into the very rural and scenic Lake District. The population is concentrated on the coast in Whitehaven itself and several former small coal-mining towns. The nuclear plant at Sellafield is also an important employer. Although Labour's Jack Cunningham does not enjoy a huge majority, the Labour vote seems very loyal, and the party will view the seat as safe.
