There are no towns with more than 10,000 souls in the newly created West Sussex seat of Arundel and South Downs. A network of affluent, middle-class and comfortable small towns and villages, including Arundel, seat of the Duke of Norfolk, creates just about as safe as Conservative seat as is possible. This has created a secure base for a Conservative parliamentary career, unless a future boundary review expunges it.
