The Welsh constituency of Delyn, in the far north-east of the principality, on the estuary of the River Dee, is a very mixed seat. The more industrial towns of Flint and Holywell are balanced by the administrative centre of Mold and a fair stretch of rural countryside. Boundary changes have removed part of the bungalurbia associated with the seaside resort of Prestatyn to the adjacent Vale of Clwyd seat. The effect is to make Delyn a fairly safe seat for Labour, except, perhaps, in bad years for the party.
