Although the town of Ashford itself contains districts that variously represent strongholds for each of the three major parties, the prosperous and attractive rural hinterland swings the overall balance firmly to the Conservatives. An expanding local economy, spurred on by the town's Channel Tunnel rail link, should cause the Conservatives few problems in the future.
