The new east London seat of East Ham is largely based on the former safe Labour seat of Newham North East. Boundary changes do add some modern private housing developments on the docklands riverside frontage to the streets of modest terraced housing that dominate the constituency. There is also a large non-white component in the electorate. Overall, Labour remain safe.
