The new seat of Essex North completely surrounds the newly unified constituency of Colchester, which looks like the hole in the doughnut. The arrangement spells bad news for the Tories - much of the Conservative strength for Colchester has been moved out to Essex North, and that city is now vulnerable to the Liberal Democrats. There can be no doubt of the result for intensely rural Essex North, however - this is a true blue Tory seat.
