Falkirk West contains the whole of the industrial town of Falkirk, between Glasgow and Edinburgh plus a few surrounding communities. In the 1990s it has been the SNP rather than the Conservatives who have been the main challengers to Labour here, but they still have a long way to go to overhaul Labour in a general election and win the seat, which should remain safe for Labour MP, Dennis Cavanan.
