The new seat of Finchley and Golders Green is much safer for the Conservatives than the former Finchley constituency of Finchley which was held by premier Margaret Thatcher. Stretching from the super affluent area around Bishop's Avenue through the garden suburbs of Golders Green, much of this seat is highly respectable and middle-class with many successful Jewish families. The balance of the social profile should deliver a large Tory majority.
