The newly drawn constituency of Gainsborough in rural north Lincolnshire is a very safe Conservative prospect, and MP, Edward Leigh, should expect to return easily to Westminster. The towns and villages here, with light industry, much of which is connected with the local agricultural economy, are comfortable and respectable. Neither Labour nor the Liberal Democrats have any significant power base here from which to mount challenges on the Conservative majority.
