The new south central constituency of Glasgow Shettleston contains many areas where much of Glasgow's formerly notorious tenement housing has been bulldozed and replaced by more modern local authority estates. Not quite as troubled as some of Glasgow's more peripheral areas of public housing, this area is the home to solid and traditional working families, whose allegiance Labour should be able to count on to deliver a very safe majority.
