The Welsh constituency of Gower pairs the attractively rural Gower peninsula, with many small resort and commuter communities, with the industrial and coalmining area around Gorseinon to the west of Swansea, which retains a strong Welsh speaking tradition, although with little inclination to support Plaid Cymru. The Labour voters in the latter area predominate and outweigh the more Conservative minded electors on the Gower itself. Labour should be safe here.
