To the south east of Glasgow, straddling the M74, the seat of Hamilton North and Bellshill, is as safe for Labour as any other in this part of Scotland's industrial Strathclyde. This is former coalmining country and the only main areas that Labour cannot wholly count on are the small towns of Bothwell and Uddington, north of Hamilton.
