The second largest English constituency in area, Hexham, in rural Northumberland, stretches from south of the River Tyne and the edge of Newcastle to the Scottish border. Highly agricultural with a few prosperous market towns such as Hexham and Corbridge, this is the only remaining Conservative seat in the county. The Tory vote looks pretty solid, and, with no clear challenger from the competing Labour and Liberal Democrat parties, the seat should remain safe for the Conservatives.
