Hornsey and Wood Green, in the north London Borough of Haringey, is a very cosmopolitan seat, with Afro-caribbean, Asian and Cypriot communities, young people in shared flats and bed-sits, and predominantly more liberal middle-classes in the leafy streets of Muswell Hill and Crouch End. At the 1992 general election Labour won the constituency from the Conservatives with a substantial majority. There are no boundary changes and Labour must now expect to hold.
