Hull North, or Kingston upon Hull North, is predominantly working-class. Hull's managerial and professional workers tend to commute from small towns and villages beyond the city boundary. Hull North does contain the city's university section and some leafier suburbs with both Conservative and Liberal Democrat voters. However, a clear majority of electors voted Labour in 1992, and can be expected to do so again.
