Located on the north-eastern fringes of Liverpool, peripheral council estates dominate Liverpool West Derby. Despite council house sales and significant areas of owner-occupation, there is now a safe electoral skew to Labour. In past decades when Liverpool was more populous and contained a larger number of smaller parliamentary constituencies, this was one of the areas of the City that could return Conservative MPs. This is no longer the case, and Labour looks safe.
