The towns of Normanton, Ossett and Horbury are the main centres of population in the West Yorkshire constituency of Normanton, curling around Wakefield. Built on an industrial heritage of coalmining and textiles, this area is not quite as solidly Labour as some parts of West Yorkshire, but nevertheless the seat can be considered perfectly safe under present circumstances.
