There are extensive peripheral council estates in the north of Nottingham, as well as streets of modest owner-occupied terraced housing, and Nottingham North ought to be Labour's safest bet in the city. They just lost the seat in 1983, but have returned to the ascendant, and should certainly be secure in 1997.
