Labour/Liberal Democrat marginals are rare and Hillsborough in north-west Sheffield, the home of Sheffield Wednesday's famous and tragic football ground, became one only in the 1980s, due to the addition of Lib Dem-voting rural wards. The Lib Dems have never held it, although they pared the Labour majority down to 1,500 in 1983. Labour's lead has improved since, but their Helen Jackson will still be looking anxiously over her shoulder.
