The South Devon district of South Hams enjoys some of the most attractive scenery in England, but it is scarcely developed for tourism and in no way ruined by commercial exploitation.
In boundary changes, the South Hams constituency (excluding the western end, now part of the controversial SW Devon constituency) has been brought together with some 11,000 voters from the Teignbridge seat, and the name of South Hams is dropped in favour of the more historic Totnes.
Boundary changes have meant a change of constituency for the Golden Lion Hotel at Ashburton, the national headquarters of the Raving Loony Party.
Alan Hope of the Raving Loony party only secured 437 votes in Teignbridge in 1992 and unless there is a huge swing towards some kind of lunacy next time it is safe to predict that the Conservatives should hold the Totness seat easily, with the Liberal Democrats in second place.
