One of the most affluent parts of Greater London, Wimbledon is best known nationally and internationally for its tennis tournament. Unsurprisingly, this well-heeled seat is securely Tory, returning incumbent Charles Goodson-Wickes in 1992 with over half of the total vote, leaving Labour and the Lib Dems to split the rest fifty-fifty. Those opposition votes came from the 'other' Wimbledon to the north, which is working-class with significant non-white minorities. For all the opposition's efforts, however, this should be an easy victory for the Conservatives.
