The naval town of Chatham is the largest element in the new Kent constituency of Chatham and Aylesford. However, such Labour-voting areas as there are to be found in Chatham are more than offset by the Conservative voters in the surrounding Kent countryside and in the small town of Aylesford. Overall this is another safe Conservative seat.
