Gedling, which takes in the comfortable suburban towns of Arnold and Carlton, to the east of Nottingham, is part of Nottingham's commuter territory. Once upon a time there was coalmining around here, and there are Labour-voting areas, but these days modern private estates set the tone and this is one of several Nottingham seats that should be safe for the Conservatives.
