Glasgow Govan, along the south bank of the Clyde, west of the city centre, contains what is left of Glasgow's once thriving shipbuilding industry. The constituency includes some quite affluent residential areas, but the heavy industrial core predominates in what looks as if it ought to be another very safe seat for Labour. However, the Scottish Nationalists have a strong local power base in this part of the city, and although Labour should be safe, they will be looking over their shoulder to see if the SNP challenge advances.
