Portsmouth North extends north from parts of Portsea Island, on which the city proper is located, and takes in more affluent northern suburbs up against the northern chalk downland. The seat includes solid Labour council estates, both on and off the island, but this is a naval seat, and the overall balance looks irretrievably destined to remain Conservative.
