Although commonly thought of as part of Liverpool, Bootle is actually in the metropolitan borough of Sefton. However, this tough, depressed dockland town certainly has more in common with the neighbouring city and returns one of the largest Labour majorities in England. Older psephophiles may recall this as once being the seat of the redoubtable Bessie Braddock. Labour will hold it as long as the Party breathes.
