Oddly, none of the city of Derry is actually in this constituency - it is to be found in the neighbouring seat of Foyle. Londonderry East is dominated by agriculture, and is predominantly unionist, with pockets of nationalism - 32 per cent of the votes went to nationalist candidates in 1992. But Ulster Unionist William Ross was the easy winner in 1992, and will be again this time. |
