As a result of boundary changes, this seat is now truly well named. Twenty thousand inland voters have been moved to Suffolk Central Ipswich North, and 10,000 coastal voters added - the constituency now covers almost the whole of the Suffolk coast. It makes little difference. Although there are some Labour wards in the towns - Felixstowe, the largest, is a bustling port - this will remain a safe Tory seat, with a fight on between the Lib Dems and Labour for second place. Environment minister John Selwyn Gummer is in little danger from the local burghers.
