The constituency of Brentford and Isleworth consists of the eastern half of the long thin west London borough of Hounslow. It hugs the north bank of the Thames for several miles, as the river curls past the Old Deer Park, Kew Gardens and Syon Park. It also includes Chiswick, home to many urban professionals; and, with the latest boundary changes, it now stretches further west to take in just about the whole of the community (not the Borough) of Hounslow.

This last development makes the Conservatives' position in this key London marginal even more uncertain. The added ward, Hounslow West, is nearly 50%non-white. Although these voters are mainly Asian, ironically this will not help the only Asian Tory MP, Nirj Deva, who originally came from Sri Lanka - for traditionally Asian voters heavily favour the Labour party. A Conservative loss, and a return to an all-white delegation of MPs seems likely.
